Over 260 Dakota men who were convicted were brought to a place in Davenport, Iowa where they spent the next 3 years. After this time, they were exiled. Then, the Dakota at Fort Snelling were sent down the Mississippi river to some new reservations which had dry landscapes that were horrible for farming. Soon after this, a law called the Dakota Expulsion Act cut off all treaties and banned the Dakota from living in Minnesota.
