Description:
156,000 American, British and Canadian
troops landed in German resistance across five beaches in Normandy. The landings would become the largest amphibious invasion the world had ever seen, as another 5,000 ships, 11,000 aircraft, and 50,000 vehicles assisted the invasion force. Germany ended up surrenduring.
