jul 9, 1868 - 14th Amendment

Description:

The 14th Amendment granted citizenship to “all persons born or naturalized in the United States,” which included former slaves recently freed. This was significant by representing a huge leap towards equality, but also fueling the resentment of White supremacists, which would lead to violent discriminatory practices in the future. This relates to the Gettysburg Address by instituting practices of the human rights which Lincoln spoke about.
