dec 30, 1771 - End of Dual Govt 1772

Description:

In 1772, the Company ended the Dual Government and
undertook to administer Bengal directly through its own servants.

Earlier, the Indian Officials were having the mere responsibility without power. The actual power was wielded by the British.

The company got the Diwani Rights(collection of revenue) after the Battle Of Buxar. But the Nawab had the Nizamat Rights(Judicial and policing rights) which are secured from the Mughal Emperors.

Rampant Curroption

But the evils inherent in the administration of a country by a purely commercial
company soon came to the surface.
