Description:

British Gen Augustine Pre'vost sent 300 men of the Provincial Light Infantry and 1st Battalion 71st Highlander regiment across the Savannah River just north of Purrysburg. After the crossing and a brief skirmish, Patriot Lt Col Alexander McIntosh with 100 Continentals and a few militia withdrew from Purrysburgs up the Old Charles Town Road to Coosawhatchie.
