Description:

Lt. Col. Banastre Tarleton reached Kingstree on August 6, 1780. He pitched camp on the parade ground where the county court house now stands. He learned the Kingstree Regiment was on the way to Kingstree. Lt Col Tarleton decamped, burned several homes and 13 other buildings before departing.
