Description:

First Provincial Congress met on January 11, 1775 in Charles Town and immediately began organizing how it wanted to commence governing South Carolina. Those in attendance appointed local committees to enforce regulations and appointed an Executive Council of Safety seated in Charles Town to direct the work of the local committees. Carolina's First Provincial Congress convenes at the Old Exchange.
