jul 15, 1781 - British Vessels Burned and foragers captured

Description:

An unknown woman told Patriot Col Wade Hampton of two British ships landing a short distance up the Cooper River and foragers were in the cornfield. Hampton deployed his men to search the cornfield and attack the ships. Patriots captured 30 British solders in the fied, killed one on the sloops and then burned the ships. Hampton paroled the British soldiers.
