Description:
Alexander II of Russia; when they were freed, the serfs gained full rights of free citizens (including: rights to marry, owning property, and owning a business). The Emancipation Manifesto demanded that peasants would be able to buy the land from the landlords. Meanwhile, household serfs were the least affected: they gained only their freedom but no land.
