Description:
The Civil War within China between Nationalist leader Chiang Kai-shek and communist leader Mao Zedong began on August 1st, 1927. Zedong was supported by the Soviet Union, while in the U.S. lended aid to Kai-shek in fear of his defeat creating a communist superpower in Asia. Since the Chinese people faced severe starvation under Kai-shek's rule, Zedong won increased support.
