The Schooner Betsey was part of the British Fleet convoy bound for New York. She was captured by the Brig Fair American on the night of 21 Aug 1777. She was sent to Charles Town but ran aground on the Stono Breakers sandbar and was destroyed by the breakers. !00 of the 184 puncheons of rum were recovered prior to her destruction.Added to timeline:
