Description:
John Nuckolls, a Patriot Militia Captan was at home. He went with his son to McKown's Mill for grain. McKown was a Tory and told Nuckolls he would not grind his grain until the following day. McKown gathered several local Tories taking Nuckolls from the house, shot him, dumping the body in a hole of an old tree stump. Several months later his bones were discovered and taken by his family for burial at Whig Hill cemetery.
