nov 7, 1781 - Skirmish near Mine Creek

Description:

After the Siege of Ninety-Six failed in 1781, Loyalist Capt. Cornelius Neely Carghill and his men went home. A few passed the home of Capt. Solomon Pope where they found three of Capt. Pope's men - Aaron Wever, Joe Allen, and Fred Sissan - who they captured. With no place to confine them, the Loyalists took them to a swamp nearby on Mine Creek and killed them. Capt Cargill ahd his men possibliy road north from the incident at Capt Pope's home.
