aug 6, 1781 - Capt Vince Wounded
Description:
A Tory force under Loyalist Cols Chaney and Williams captured Patriot Capt James Roberts and butchered several of his men. Patriot Capt Joseph Vince volunteered to go after the Loyalist capturing six near the "Forks of the Esdito". Later that evening Vince was riding alone close to the house near Sally's Cowpens when ambushed and wounded by Tories. Vince survived the skirmish and continued with the Patriot cause.
