oct 20, 1774 - The Continental Association or the "Association"
Description:
The First Continental Congress created a system for implementing a trade boycott with Great Britain. Congress hoped imposing economic sanctions, Britain would address the grievances of the colonies particularly repealing the Intolerable Acts. The boycott began 1 Dec 1774 and was fairly successful until the British pass the New England Restraining Act of 1775. The outbreak of the Revolutionary War superseded the need to boycott British goods.
