Description:
The British used Vaudant's Old Field as a collection point for their wounded and burying the dead from the Juniper Spings fight with Thomas Sumter. After burying four near a large Post Oak tree, they also hung two of their own for reasons unknown. They feared the Patriots were close so departed leaving the two men hanging. The men hung for three months until discovered and buried under the tree by William Calk, a Patriot.
