apr 27, 1780 - Haddrell's Point battery

Description:

The British were unable to sail up the Cooper River due to the batteries at Haddrell's Point and Lempriere's Point. On April 26th, the British marched on Haddrell's Point from the Wappetaw Meeting House. Patriot Col Francis de Malmedy, commander of the Limpriere's Point battery panicked thinking the British would attack his positon. He ordered his 300 troop to abandon the battery. There was no skirmish at Haddrell's Point during this action.
