While advancing from Savannah, Ga toward Charles Town during the third attempt to take Charles Town in 1780, Gen Alexander Leslie's advanced cavalry was at McPherson's Plantation. The British Capt Deyster's cavalry was ordered out to pursue a Patriot party approximately six mile from McPherson's. Patriots learned of DePeyster's approach and made off. DePeyster did capture three Patriots and several horses but there is no mention of a skirmish or the Patriot commander's name.
