Description:
A group of Loyalist women were gathered at the Colleton mansion at Fair Lawn Plantation. Two British Dragoon's attacked Lady Colleton, widow of Tory Sir John Colleton. She fought them off and they departed. Later, Ann Fayssoux, wife of Patriot surgeon Peter Fayssoux, Betsy Giles, and Miss Jane Russell were attacked by the same men. One of the men McDonugh, strangled and assualted Mrs Fayssoux. On learning of the incident, British Lt Col Banestre Tarleton had the men arrested, tried in Charles Town and were whipped.
