Description:
The Waxhaw Presybterian Church was established in 1755. The church was named for the Indian tribe that inhabited the "Waxhaw" region. The church was also the home church of the Jackson and Richardson families. After Buford's Massacre, May 29, 1781, the church was used as a hospital for wounded lin the battle. The British burned the church on April 9, 1781 after a skirmish becuase it was used as a Patriot hospital. The church was rebuilt shortly after the burning and still serves the community today.
