Description:

Mr Gilliard, Loyalist from Charles Town sent his slave Harry to spy on Patriot movements at Monck's Corner. Patriot militia learned of Harry, captured him cutting off his head. His head was placed on a pole as a warning to all not to spy for the British. It is believed the pole with Harry;s head was placed near the old Greenland Church on the old River Road where everyone for miles around would see.
