Maj "Bloody Bill" Cunningham returned to the area with 15 of his most ruthless men. Patroit Capt William Butler and his rangers all lost relatives or friends in Cunningham's Cloud Creek Massacre so they began the pursuit. They tracked Maj "Bloody Bill" Cunningham's militia to his camp deep in the woods within Newberry County. While surrounding the camp, a sentry fire a waring shot. The Loyalist scattered in all directions to escape. Cuinningham mounted his horse and managed to escape from Capt Butler because he rode a race horse. Patriots did kill three Loyalist, Dick Turner, Jack Davis, and the third is unknown. The exact location of the camp is unknown but believed to be in the area north of Lorick's Ferry (Bauknight's Ferry) and Parkin's Ford (Corradine's Ford on the Saluda River.
