jan 20, 1781 - Near Mann's Old Field
Description:
After the battle of Cowpens, Patriot Col William Farr returned home for fight Tories in what is now Union, Newberry, and Laurens counties. He learned the Tories were near Old Mann's field so he took a "squad of Irishmen" into Newberry County. They caught the Tories killing many after a short skirmish recovering the stolen booty. The exact location of Old Mann's field is unknown. Based on research this is believed to be near the location where the road to Belfast crosses Garrison Creek west of the old Mangan's store.
