Description:

Lt. Col. Archibald Campbell SC Royalist, dispatched Capt. Moses Wheatley and forty East Florida Rangers to guard Middleton's Ferry on the Georgia side, seventeen miles northwest of Augusta. On February 9th, patriot Col. Marbury got news of Capt. Wheatley patrol. He sent Capt. Cooper with 12 men. When Capt. Wheatley stopped to cook dinner, Capt. Cooper rushed the camp and captured them without any resistance.
