Loyalist William Cunningham who was in Savannah, Georgia learned of his brother and father's fate. Not having a horse, Cunningham walked for six days to return home. He went to Richie's home and shot him dean. Cunningham escaped, joined the British and became known as "Bloody Bill" Cunningham, a ruthless Loyalist commander.
