Description:
On January 8, 1782, the General Assembly met in Jacksonborough with Maj. Gen. Nathanael Greene and his large Patriot army between them and the British army in Charles Town. The House of Representatives met and adjourned each day until a quorum could arrive, which happened on January 17th (some say January 18th). This was the first time that the South Carolina legislature had met since 1780, before the British seized Charles Town on May 12th. This assembly adjourned on February 16, 1782.
