The National Convention was Revolutionary France’s third attempt at a national legislature. As stated, it was formed in September of 1792, following the invasion of the Tuileries, which occurred on August 10, 1792, and elected with a broader franchise than the Legislative Assembly. Throughout the 3 years the National Convention was intact, it would prove eventful, divisive and violent.
