"The Liberator", the first abolitionist journal, was published in 1831 and written by William Lloyd Garrison. The journal demonstrated an advocacy of ""immediate and complete emancipation of all slaves" in the United States. Garrison believed slavery was a moral issue, and in order to cause more change, he provided his readers with weekly issues and encouraged them to be influenced into changing their moral standing on slavery.
