1936年12月12日张学良、杨虎城发动西安事变，在西安扣押蒋介石，实行“兵谏”，通电全国，要求停止内战，一致抗日。24日，会谈达成6项协议，西安事变和平解决。26日，张学良陪蒋介石回南京被扣留。
