jan 3, 1787 - 1787 U.S. Constitution

Description:

The 1787 constitution had a chance at ending the slave trade, but could not pull through. Here is the reason why, as explained by The New York Public Library (5), "Due to pressure from the Deep South, the 1787 U.S. Constitution prevented Congress from ending the slave trade before 1808," (The New York Public Library 1). Due to this, the slave trade would live on, leading to more Africans being transported in from Africa.
