Description:
Sometime between the Kyuubi Attack and Uchiha Massacre, Orochimaru is caught in his Danzou-sanctioned experiments by the Third.
In the anime, Kakashi and Kinoe are sent to stop Orochimaru from leaving to Oto. Placing the date before Itachi's graduation because Orochimaru seemed to know about Itachi's genius late in the series. (Although it would be obvious because of the age Itachi joined Akatsuki anyway?)
