Bruce Robinson's film of Hunter S. Thompson's novel The Rum Diary took to the streets of Old San Juan on Friday, filming a labor protestoutside the office of the fictional newspaper, The San Juan Star. About 150 extras, dressed in 1960s attire, swarmed the street and blocked traffic; they waved picket signs and shouted protests on cue.
The exterior shooting meant that fans could not get as close to the San Juan Star building on Friday, but those who were patient still had a chance to meet Johnny Depp. Around 6 p.m after a day of filming, Johnny came out to greet the waiting crowd, reports Cristina Quiles Sea of Primera Hora - a local newspaper.
