aug 19, 1911 - Mangaluru Incident

Description:

A few nautical miles off the coast of Mangaluru (Spanish India), fleets from Spain and Portugal fire upon each other, sinking 7 Spanish and 5 Portuguese warships in the process. In the following weeks, hundreds of tons of goods on the way to Europe, including British and French ships, are sunk by the rivalling colonial fleets before the carnage can be called off.

To resolve the now unacceptable state of the Spanish-Portuguese condominium in Mysore, a conference in Pondicherry is called.
