Also known as the Constitution of the German Reich, this was the constitution which governed Germany through the Weimar Republic era.
The constitution declared Germany to be a Democratic Parliamentary Republic, with different political parties to be elected. Friedrich Ebert became the first president of the Reich in 1919, he lead the Left Wing, Social democrat party , SPD.
Article 48 - President can use article 48 in a state of emergency; article 48 meant that the president could pass laws without prior consent of the Reichstag.
the constitution stated that people over the age of 21 could vote including women.
President - elected every 7 years
Chancellor - Appointed from the Reichstag by the President. Had to be supported by the majority of the Reichstag.
Reichstag - proportional representations parties got the same proportion of seats to the proportion of votes they won.
Proportional Representation - unlikely to get a majority, Weimar was mostly controlled by a coalition.
