When the fire of Damascus was out, Leo IV returned to Sidon and settled in to hear news from the wider Empire.
Leo IV would stay in Sidon for the remainder of 737, catching up on events back in the capital and setting up the administration of his new old territory. Most of the old Diocese of the East back under Imperial control during this year, even the most holdouts city of Emesa would be taken when the Emperor Leo personally led his army north in April 738, but effectively all of Roman Syria was now reconquered.
