The manufacturing business was a large part of the economic nature and families would produce different manufactured goods from raw materials with the process left to women.

Flax was grown by men then the women would spin it into a thread to wove linen and grain was used to produce beer. Men caught the fish, and women would clean, dry and sell it in the market.

Rich noblemen financed factories such as bakeries, breweries, and carpentry workshops.
