Description:

The Ottoman Empire was founded around 1299, with a series of raids from Turkic warriors led by Osman I, leader of the Turkish tribes in Anatolia. These conquests resulted in the collapse of Seljuk authority, as he was able to occupy two key fortresses. Soon after, he captured the first significant city in his territories, Yenişehir, which became the Ottoman capital. The Ottoman then set up a formal government ad kept on expanding their territories under many different leaders.

This was so significant because it meant a start of an empire that would last for 600 years! An empire that encompassed millions of kilometres, which would see important achievements in areas such as the arts, science, religion and culture, as well as massive advances in medicine and healthcare, which has seen the development of better hospitals acros the world. The Ottoman Empire is seen as one of the most significant empires of all time, and the impact it left can still be seen today.
