jan 1, 1250 BC - Reign of Emperor Wu Ding
Description:
The Great Emperor Wu Ding ruled for 58 years, and is the earliest Chinese ruler whose reign is confirmed by contemporary material. Wu Ding was a great warrior, and defeated many lands including the Guifang (in the north), the Qiangfang (in the west) and the Jingman (in the south).
Wu Ding is seen as such a significant and important Emperor because his reign is seen as the climax of the Shang dynasty, before it fell into decline. Wu Ding did many things during his rule, conquering lands, changing the government to make it more efficient by filling it with intelligent and qualified officials.
Fun fact- King Wu Ding had over 60 wives in his lifetime!
