After the deadly winter, more than 260 Dakota men that were accused of taking part in the war were sent to a compound in Davenport, Iowa. They stayed there for three years until they got exiled. Then they got sent to a reservation that was dry and insecure for farming. Then the Dakota Expulsion Act came in action, that meant all Dakota regardless if you were peaceful or not could not live in Minnesota.
