This case was brought before the Alaska Supreme Court. Hootch sued the state of Alaska alleging that boarding schools didn't provide the same educational quality as going to school in one's home village. The court ruled in Hootch's favor and determined that villages with elementary schools must also have high schools. This ruling remains in effect today.
