Leaving his cousins with friends of Janet’s for the weekend, Janet drives Will to Ilfracombe, Devon. He has his uniform fitted and they speak to the bursar and headmistress, Ms Oldbridge since he’s transferring. He also meets his form tutor, Mr Ben Rogers. He and Janet stay in a cheap B&B in Ilfracombe.

He and Janet spend the day in Ilfracombe. Their last proper day together. Will gets upset that evening knowing she’s going to leave. She comforts him and reassures him that this is for the best. That she believes in him.
