Will expresses to Janet he doesn’t want to go to boarding school. They have their first argument as Janet tries to explain to him that he’s better than this – this city, this life, her. She wants the best. He eventually comes round to it but reluctantly.

To help, Janet takes Will and his cousins all the way to Ilfracombe, Devon for the open day and End of Year show where he visits Hillside Academy for the first time. He falls rapidly in love with it, ultimately deciding that this is for the best.
