sep 17, 1939 - Soviet Union Invades Poland

Description:

After Hitler's invasion of Poland, the Hitler-Stalin Pact had a secret clause that divided Poland into two "spheres of influence": Germany would keep the western part, and the USSR would keep the east. The Soviet troops and German troops ended up meeting in the middle of Poland, where the Germans handed over their prisoners of war. As a result of the invasion, the Soviet Union gained 13 million people and almost a third of Poland.
