jan 1, 1532 - Machiavelli publishes The Prince

Description:

Niccolò Machiavelli was an Italian diplomat, author, philosopher, and historian born in 1469. He had a notable role in the government of Florence, and also wrote some of the most important philosophical texts of the time.

The Prince was arguably his most important work. It is presented as an instructional guide for new princes and royals, and discusses the immoral lengths such people will go to to maintain their wealth, power and prestige. The text laid some of the foundations of modern philosophy, and Machiavelli is credited with pioneering in the field.
