Vittorene da Feltre was an Italian humanistic schoolmaster, born in 1378. He established a boarding school, La Giocosa, in Mantua in 1423, and the unique teaching methods and education brought attention to da Feltre.

His academy was renowned for the fact that it welcomed students of any background, lacked any corporal punishment, and educated on a wide variety of subjects ranging from arithmetic to humanism. His humanistic teachings and schooling methods inspired many other academies in Italy, and he laid part of the groundwork of modern education.
