oct 26, 1985 - The Return of Uluru
Description:
The Return of Uluru was a ceremony to handback the title of ownership to the Aboriginal people. This had taken place at the base of Uluru, where hundreds of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people watched the Governor-General Sir Ninian Stephen passed the title deeds. This was significant to the Anangu people who had gained their traditional land back. It had taken decades to have the rights recognised and be known as the traditional owners.
