9h 36min, jun 4, 1932 y - Bonus Marchers routed from Washington

Description:

About 17,000 WWI vets would march to Washington demanding the federal government to pay them the bonuses they were supposed to receive in 1945 immediately. The Senate would reject the demanding, and as a result many of the marchers went home. Some stayed and lived in shacks along the Anacostia River. The president during this time would be Herbert Hoover. He demanded that the remaining few to be removed. Military forces would use tear gas to remove them, and would later burn down the shacks they lived in.
