feb 3, 1962 - Unpardonable Sin of Homosexuality [Part 10]

Description:

On February 2, 1962 apostle Harold B. Lee visited the BYU campus in Provo, Utah to deliver two separate devotionals. The first devotional, titled “Sweet Are the Uses of Adversity,” was held in the Smith Fieldhouse on February 2, 1962; the second speech, “The Light of Christ,” was given at the BYU Institute of Religion the following day.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints deleted the second speech, “The Light of Christ,” from all online resources. The archives at BYU no longer show President Lee’s February 3rd speech in its schedule of devotionals for 1962.

What said was so damning that the Church felt compelled to remove Lee’s speech?

President Lee called the homosexual (not the act of homosexuality) “unpardonable” and gave a lengthy anecdote about a woman in love with another woman stating that the ugly practice and unpardonable sin of homosexuality is more common than we realize.
