nov 27, 1945 - Surveillance of Belvedere Hotel, Temple Square Hotel, & Deseret Gymnasium [Part 4]

Description:

“In November 1945 Presiding Bishop LeGrand Richards launched a continued surveillance of church-owned Belvedere Hotel and Temple Square Hotel to discover the ‘evil [homosexual] practices’ of tenants.

"…the hierarchy [President David O. McKay, J. Reuben Clarke, Mark E. Peterson and Charles H. Olsen (Salt Lake City Chief of Police)] expanded the scope of its investigations.

“About this same time First Presidency counselor Clark asked former bishop Gordon Burt Affleck to organize a similar surveillance in the men’s steam room of the Deseret Gymnasium.”
