Patriotism was at its highest since before the Dark Depression, and had seen levels higher than at any point throughout the Great Eminence Campaign. The even logistics issues that continued to plague some parts of the country went mostly unnoticed. IOSA Agents across the board were calling for a dedicated involvement, mostly in hopes that this wouldn’t become another stalemate. Soon, their developments would force the Empire’s hand. Imperial forces were nearing their first actual landmark besides just loose wilderness; a town by the name of Romatunda. On the evening of May 20, 2022, Messigna saw it as the key to their success, and with Major General Tavarish’s approval, went in on the attack at 9:36 PM. After around two hours, the Algrasian defenders were either driven out of the town or captured by Imperial forces. By then, all possibilities of negotiations were considered impossible, as the situation had developed too much to reverse what was going on. The only thing to do now was for the Empire to devote itself to what it was doing; a move it was surprisingly reluctant to do.
